The Green Ribbons by Claire Flynn. Published by Cameron

In the year 1900, Hephzibah Wildman has lost everything. Her parents are dead, her money and home gone. with little choice, she accepts the position of Governess at Ingleton Hall. As she settles into her new position, she gets to know the villagers and becomes friendly with shy local parson, Merritt Nightingale, who begins to fall in love with her. But she is drawn to handsome Thomas Egton, before she can sort out her feelings, Hephzibah becomes aware she has attracted the very unwanted attentions of Sir Richard Egton. What she does next will change not only her life, but the lives of those people she has grown to care for. A beautifully written story that put me in mind of Barbara Taylor Bradford’s A Woman of Substance
