Dear Mr. M by Herman Koch. Published by Crown

Once upon a time M. was a top selling author back in the day. He wrote about a book based on the true story of a history teacher who disappeared after having an affair with one of his students; the man was never found. The book was a huge best seller, but since then, M’s star has faded, he spends most of his time disparaging fellow writers and wondering about his odd neighbor, teenage Herman. Herman spends an equal amount of time watching and wondering about M. Told in alternating points of view between two sociopaths, readers don’t know who to believe (no one), but they may just find answers to what really happened on that fateful night. A wicked, satirical novel
