The Long, Long Life of Trees by Fiona Stafford. Published by Yale University

Stafford looks at the long history and partnership between humans and trees. From medicine, mythology, food, clothing, dwellings, weapons of war and more, trees have been an integral part of our lives for thousands of years. From cyprus, oak, olive and rowan trees, we have revered, worshipped, feared and destroyed these ancient sentinels. Stafford’s account is immensely readable, filled with fascinating facts and gorgeous art work. One tip, I read this on my Kindle and it was lovely, but it really comes to life on a tablet
