The Graveyard Apartment by Mariko Koike. Published by St. Martin’s

A young couple move into a new luxury apartment complex with their daughter. At the very least it should be quiet, the neighbors are all dead – the complex is next to a cemetery. While some people are put off by this fact, plenty of others are happy to move in. But then strange, disconcerting events begin to occur with ever greater frequency. Slowly at first, then faster and faster, the neighbors begin to move out, leaving the young family the only residents left. Well, the only residents left alive anyway. In the basement of the building, something stirs. Originally written in the 1980s, this horror story has held up well and will find a place on the shelves of literate horror readers
