Years after the Great War, Kaiser Wilhelm is living in a Dutch chateau. When the Nazis invade Holland, his regular staff is replaced by SS guards. Martin Krebbs is the young SS officer in charge and he and Wilhelm strike up a friendship partially based on their dislike of Jews. They believe the Jews are to blame for Germany’s problems, but not on what to do about them. All that changes when Krebbs falls for Akki, Wilhlem’s Jewish maid and he begins to question all that he’s been taught to believe
