Teacher and aspiring novelist, Flavie Richalet’s well-ordered life is turned on its head after she gets a letter postmarked 1971. The letter was sent to Amelie Lacombe  and contains a marriage proposal and a declaration of undying love. The letter is signed only with the capital letter E. Flavie decides to try to track down E. and finds herself at an inn on the coast of France, where she encounters the letter writer, a man who still carries a fame to Amelie. Flavie is drawn to the man, and wants to reunite the long parted lovers, but his nephew, who wants to protect his uncle stands in her way. This is a beautifully written love story, and main character Flavie is a strong, interesting character
