Ellie dreamed of becoming a doctor, but those dreams are cut short when she has to drop out of med school to return home to hep take care of her father after he has a stroke. She and her sister, Amelia do their best to make their father comfortable and Ellie takes a job as a paramedic. Life is predictable and boring until the night she answers a 911 call that takes her to her sister’s home. Both Amelia and her husband have been shot in what appears to be a home invasion. With Amelia in the hospital clinging to life, Ellie begins the task of finding out what really happened to her sister and why. The answers will reveal things about her family she never, knew, never even suspected. Bleeker is really good at character development, so readers actually care about Ellie and her family and have a vested interest in what happens to them
