Beneath the Ashes by Jane Issac. Published by Trafalgar Square

DI Will Jackman is looking into the body of a man found dead in a burned down barn. Across the field, in the farmhouse, Jackman encounters Nancy Faraday, lying in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor. She has a head wound and no memory of what happened to her or her apparently missing boyfriend, Evan. Why would someone want to kill Evan and attempt to kill Nancy? Jackman races to find the answer, hoping that Nancy won’t fall prey to the killer before he can uncover the truth. But just how much of Nancy’s story can the Di believe? Issac, as always, does a good job keeping readers on the edge of their seats
